Each year the government sets new Limits with respect to ‘Compensation’ i.e. maximum redundancy settlements and Payments i.e. ‘Statutory Sick Pay’.
For 2010 from 1st February and this April the increases have been minimal or frozen reflecting low inflation, the economic climate and a general election on the horizon.
There was one surprise where the maximum compensation award for unfair dismissal went down!! It was £66,200 and is now £65,300.
As for SRP (statutory redundancy pay) this remains unchanged from the increase in October 2009 with a maximum limit of £380 per week.
The most common statutory payments are effective from April and are probably of most interest to you:
- Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) No Change – stays at £79.15
- Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) £124.08 (was £123.06)
- Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) £124.08 (was £123.06)
- Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP) £124.08 (was £123.06)
